Our country is facing an educational dilemma. Our children and grandchildren will have a bright future only if we provide them with a superior K-12 education. As such, outstanding educators are needed to lead our nation’s schools systems towards high performance and achievement. At the same time, data predicts that an unprecedented number of superintendents will retire or leave the profession within the next five years. This is exactly the type of opportunity required for a new generation of reform-minded leaders to spearhead America’s resurgence in K-12. The National Superintendents Academy program was established to prepare these new leaders, address this looming leadership deficit, and to provide a focused alternative or supplement to traditional superintendent training and certification programs.
Each Academy program is provided in five two-day sessions. In addition, the program includes up to seven days of online and independent study work. Thus far, National Superintendents Academy graduates have been highly sought after for their capacity to transform the culture of systems and schools, to dramatically improve student achievement, and to close the achievement gaps. Over 150 graduates have gone on to earn a Superintendent position.
The National Superintendents Academy program is incredibly selective (typically admitting 14% of applicants) and is geared towards high potential leaders who will help us improve the state of our country’s schools.
